2017 Annual Meeeting and Potluck

posted Jan 2, 2017, 8:15 PM by Tartan-Owners Southern California
Dear Fellow TOSCAns,

Traditionally we have had an annual meeting in San Diego, coinciding with the boat show.  The boat show has declined in quality over the past many years, such that there is no reason to have the annual TOSCA business meeting after the boat show.  In place, we have decided to hold the annual meeting at the Conner house in Irvine, followed by a potluck dinner.
Annual Meeting Date:   January 29, 2017 (Sunday)
Annual Meeting Location: 16 Sunriver, Irvine, CA 92614
Annual Meeting Time: 6:00 p.m.
Conference call:   We will let you know a conference call number and login so you can participate if you cannot physically come to the dinner
Further, the ongoing “management” of TOSCA is changing.  As you were advised last year at the annual meeting, at the end of this year, Don McLennan is resigning as Director, Laura McLennan is resigning as Social Director, and Keith Fullenwider is resigning as Cruise Director.  These individuals have fulfilled these roles for the past several years and it is time for new faces to become more involved.  Please reply with the position you are interested in ASAP and we will send out a follow-up e-mail to all of TOSCA with a proposed roster of candidates.  If nobody wishes to assume these roles, then our suggestion is that TOSCA continue to exist but on a less formal basis.
The formal Board of Directors of TOSCA presently remains the same – the President is Don McLennan; the Chief Financial Officer is Patty Conner and the Secretary is Frank Conner.  Those positions may also be changing but for now remain the same.  As with the officer positions, if any of you would like to become a member of the Board, please speak up.  Your participation would be warmly welcomed and appreciated!
Many of you are familiar with the “Friends of TOSCA Facebook" page.  There, members are free to share plans for informal sailing gatherings or any other plans they may have for which other members of TOSCA are invited to join.  We encourage you to visit the Facebook page from time to time, so that you can stay informed about current “goings-on” of the TOSCA membership.  If you do not know how to access the Facebook page, please contact Pascale Hayem and she will assist you.  If you are not a user of Facebook, be sure to let some of the members know so that they can advise you if there are postings about upcoming events.
Although the TOSCA website will remain viable, new posts will only appear as they are received from the general membership for inclusion.  Please feel free to send those to Don McLennan.  Alternately, volunteers are welcome to maintain the website, as it is supported by Google G Suite apps and is pretty easy to update.
Thanks for your ongoing participation!  And, as always, please feel free to contact me or anyone on the board at if you have any questions about any of this.  Wishing each of you a very Happy and Health New Year!!

Laura McLennan, your TOSCA Social Director
