eBoatCards (www.eboatcards.com), from the folks at ActiveCaptain, aims to be the Facebook for the sailing community.  eBoatCards uses your ActiveCaptain login and allows you to,
  1. Create a profile
  2. Share photos
  3. Share location
  4. Make blog entries
  5. Link friends
  6. Participate in a group
Profile background information about boat, captain, crew, etc.
  1. Boat name, location, owner
  2. Primary captain, home port, phone numbers, SSB call signs, and memberships
  3. Secondary captain
  4. Boat details, year, registration, LOA, website
Here’s a partial example of Intuition’s profile,

I have a “Friend” (linked during the Baja Haha),

TOSCA has setup a local eBoatCard group,

Sharing locations may be quite useful, when tracking friends or fellow members.  Notice the "show friends" checkbox,

I’m not sure where this eventually leads; however, I did make a “friend” request while preparing for the Baja Haha.  This might be a great way for fellow TOSCA’ns to keep in touch, in a more specialized boating forum than say Facebook.

I think eBoatCards is worth a look.  You can link through to eBoatCards from the TOSCA website or http://www.eboatcards.com.  Signup, join TOSCA and  let’s be friends!
