For those interested in the build of a new Tartan 4000, a note from Gary Schaffel,

Attached are pictures that were taken of my new Tartan during our factory visit August 31. The hull was infused Friday August 28, and the tubes and vacuum bags had been removed. it is still in the mold. You can see the inside of the hull, the exterior of the mold, and assorted pictures of various bulkheads, head fiberglass mold, molds for carbon fiber mast, and various other pieces in various states of fabrication. They are predicting to attach the deck to the hull in about 5 weeks and have it ready for shipping in December.

We had a marathon 6 hour meeting with Tim Jackett, Dave Inglis (the LA Tartan rep), and Bob Horvath, a local surveyor who has acted as owners rep for several previous built Tartans, covering the original order, changes, and pinning down all of the options. Steve Malbasa, Tartan Yachts owner, dropped in for several minutes to say hello.

All in all it was a great experience, and getting a chance to meet the factory folks actually working on the boat was nice. It is quite an impressive operation. Plan to go back for another visit just before they do the deck to hull joining.

Hope to be on the water sometime in January. Please pass this along to the various TOSCANS
